Submitting Your Teaching Evidence File Electronically

PDP (Professional Development Profile):
BriUni's name for the Evidence File you submit to subject-route tutors.

GTP note: From discussions with a GTP student, Graduate Teacher's Programme students submit their evidence online via Pebble Pad, so what I present here may not be of direct assistance to them.

PDP Electronically?

Are you going to be using your computer for your PDP?

"I know you will have heard this before, but organisation is key this year; having lots of 'bits of paper' can become overwhelming; so try to keep all the paper organised." (NQT at Placement School 1, 2009)

Question: Why do you need the 'bits of paper' at all?

If you're trying to get rid of the paper element, let us know how you plan to do it! Please attach any documents you might have designed for the purpose.

To save cluttering the introduction, I'll post my ideas here. I have two PGCE folders. They are PGCE and PGCE_res (short for Resources). (Ignore the other folders - they're shelved ATM for if I ever have a life again.)

"PGCE_res" is a huge folder. It doesn't need to be backed up as regularly, so I kept it seperate:

"PGCE" is where I keep all the juicy bits:

I wanted to highlight two particular folders PGCE\Research because (most items) are in Date -> Author -> Content order. I find this the easiest way to keep things orderly. If I want to find NCETM for instance, I use the Search Box (top right):

... and PGCE\Research\TDA_QTS. TDA's site provides some really useful explanatory documents on the standards, which I have on my computer. I've renamed them (see below) so that I can see what each standard is without waiting for Adobe Acrobat to open.

The files that are most important are attached, but I'll summarise:

  • Diary: Used mostly for writing Daily Reflective Comments in, but also for more specific reflections and highlights
  • Evidence (old): "Old" is more compact, and shows how many standards each evidence "hits". (Can't "sort" by standards.)
  • Evidence (new): Sorted by Standards. Document location is included for each standard - necessary duplication.
  • Quotes: If I read/hear something that strikes me, I note it down here. I categorise it, so I can easily find particular types of quote for, say, assignments. Presently, I've not been very disciplined.
  • Mentor Meetings: I keep weekly minutes of meetings between myself and mentors. I add a table of contents, so I can find content quickly.
  • PGCE Notes: All uni notes (including Mixed Groups) go into this document. It's very large, but it's handy as I know where to start looking if I want to find something that was said at uni.
